  • Stay active during the holidays!  Get out for a walk in the crisp air, or have fun building a snowman.  The fresh air and activity will go a long way towards helping you relax during the busy holidays.

  • Adding lemon or lime juice to your water helps to cleanse your liver and flush toxins from your body!

    Tip: Make ice cubes out of lemon or lime juice, then add to your water for some cool refreshment!

  • Attention: Please be advised that today, Thursday June 5, 2014, Sparx Wellness Institute will be CLOSED due to the tragic events in Moncton last night and the resulting lockdown.  We want to ensure everyone stays off the roads so that law enforcement can do their jobs more easily.  Our hearts go out to the fallen RCMP officers and anyone affected by this terrible tragedy.  Please be safe!

  • If you are working at a computer on a daily basis it is very important to stretch your back, shoulders, and neck for a period of 2-3 minutes every half hour.  It is also important to stand-up periodically, this will prevent further muscle and joint problems from occuring. 

  • A poor posture can be improved simply by being aware of it.  Place a sticker or a post-it note in your home or office in a place that you'll see often.  Use it as a reminder to pull your shoulders down, bring your head back so it lines up with your neck and shoulders, and to straighten your back.  A poor slouching habit can be replaced with good posture in no time!

  • Exercise isn't just something for people who are already in shape!  It's important for all of us, and 'being fit' is achieved one step at a time.  Sparx Beginner Bootcamp is a great way to to start for anyone who doesn't feel they 'belong' in a gym.  For more information, check our 'Upcoming Events' or 'Weight Loss' sections.

  • Energy Boosters
    Energy and exercising go hand-in-hand. One feeds the other and keeps you going in a positive cycle of health and well-being. Also try to avoid large heavy meals, and keep dinners light and before 8:00pm when you can. You'll feel more energized in the morning!

  • Remember to rest!

    When you spend the day running around (both literally with physical activity and figuritively with a busy schedule) allow your body time to renew and recover by getting sufficient sleep.

  • Trying not to catch that cold? Studies have shown that people experiencing emotional stress have weakened immune systems and are more likely to catch a cold than their calmer counterparts. Breathe deep and find a way to relax to stay healthy!
  • Laughter is an important thing to incorporate into your life!  It exercises the lungs and lowers both your heart rate and blood pressure.  And it can be contagious, so pass it on!
